JEM/SMILES cooling profile
The lowest temperature of JEM/SMILES mechanical cooler reached to ~4.1 Kelvin.
The mechanical cooler, developed by Sumitomo Heavy Industry, consists of two different types of cryocoolers: a two-stage Stirling cooler (ST) and a Joule-Thomson cycle cooler (JT). The ST makes 100- and 20-Kelvin stages where low-noise HEMT amplifiers developed by Japan Communication Equipment (Nitsuki) are installed. And the JT cools two superconducting mixers mounted on 4-Kelvin stage. The amplifiers and mixers are going to power on in this week.
